Happy Veteran’s Day and thank you to all who have served and sacrificed for our country. As this tumultuous week comes to a close, it is important to focus on those things in life that bring you joy and for me that is learning about new places in and around Atlanta with gluten-free options.
Here is this week’s roundup:
Atlanta’s Buckhead Life Restaurant Group is now offering delivery via Postmates. As of now, a diner may order from Atlanta Fish Market, Bistro Niko, Buckhead Diner and Chops Lobster Bar with delivery promised in under an hour. There is a delivery fee and delivery times vary based on the restaurant chosen. Check out their site for more details
Create Your Cupcake in Sandy Springs is now offering a 7″ Chocolate Halvah Layer Cake by special order only (need 48 hours advance notice). Halvah is soft, fudge-like candy made out of sesame seed paste. It is an iconic sight in Middle Eastern markets. This two-layer cake, which serves eight people, has Halvah Cremache® between the layers and is decorated with mocha frosting and halvah embellishment. They can also create a custom cake with choice of frosting and cake flavor (carrot, red velvet, vanilla, chocolate, banana).
Flats in Atlanta serves gluten-free pizzas on Rich’s gluten-free crusts with no up charge. The pizzas are prepared and cooked separately with fried onion being the only topping on the menu that contains gluten. Choose from traditional, breakfast and dessert flats, or create your own masterpiece from a long list of fresh ingredients. They also serve giant salads, juices and smoothies. Located next to the SkyView ferris wheel, it is a great place to stop for an afternoon pick-me-up or a meal.
Drop by HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern where there are gluten-free options throughout the menu, such as: salads, Udi’s Gluten Free buns for burgers, Udi’s Gluten Free dough for pizza, and Sweet Street vanilla bean brûlée cheesecake for dessert. The cheesecakes are premade (in a shared bakery) and start with vanilla bean crème brulée custard with macerated Madagascar vanilla pods folded it cheesecake batter on a crispy oat crust laced with vanilla. The tops are even scorched just like creme brulee.
Tate’s Bake Shop has created a new chocolate lovers sweet treat – gluten-free brownie thins. A combination of their brownies and cookies, each brownie thin has that lovely perfect crisp and soft cookie texture packed with rich chocolate. Look for them to hit store shelves soon. I hope these make it to Trader Joe’s, since I am 99% sure it is Tate’s gluten-free chocolate chip cookies they sell under their private label brand.
Tin Lizzy’s Cantina has opened their 13thlocation at The Avenue East Cobb in Cobb County. Tacos can be served on corn tortillas or as a skillet on a bed or rice and they have gluten-free chips, guacamole and salsa.
The pizza is on Uncle Maddio’s Pizza on Veterans Day. Participating restaurants nationwide will be giving away a free 9-inch, three-topping pizza to all veterans and active service members on Friday, November 11. Those redeeming this offer must present a valid military ID.
Have a safe and tasty weekend.
